We are pleased to update you on our progress towards obtaining Safe Sport Accreditation for the Orillia Curling Club over the past year.
Safe Sport represents the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport, aiming to ensure that all sporting environments are free from physical, sexual, and psychological abuse. Our club is fully committed to upholding these values, and we are working with CurlON to meet the new structure and criteria for Safe Sport certification.
At CurlON, our top priority is the safety and well-being of all participants in our sport. We are dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for everyone involved, including athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers.
Bringing Safe Sport into focus globally, recent Olympic events have highlighted the implementation of Safe Sport principles. A recent example of this is the Canadian Olympic Committee revoking Olympic accreditation from sprinting coach Rana Reider.
