Orillia Steer & Stop
Orillia Steer & Stop is an automotive service and repair garage. We work on most makes and models with a wide variety of services ranging from alignments, steering and suspension, brakes, tires, general automotive repairs and services.
The shop was opened in 1990 by Bill Arnold, a member of the original Orillia Curling Club since 1979. Bill’s wife Donna is also a member of the curling club and has organized bonspiels, the annual golf tournament, and helped on the board. Throughout the years Orillia Steer & Stop has sponsored bonspiels and numerous leagues. We enjoy seeing so many members of the club and their families at the shop, often discussing their most recent games or missed shots.
I had always wanted to try curling, so when the Barnfield Curling Club opened in Orillia I took the learn to curl sessions and joined the Curling Club in 2001. I quickly decided this was a sport I was going to enjoy with the strategy and comradery among friends. I joined a number of leagues and competed in various bonspiels and provincial competitions. After years of playing against Bill I joined his team at Orillia Steer & Stop in 2012, and then eventually on the ice. Over the years I have convened a few different leagues, organized and helped with bonspiels, and Instructed the Little Rock program. We eventually managed to get my wife Jennifer to try curling with Bill, Donna and myself and she is now also an active member of the club.
We appreciate all the support the Curling Club members and friends have given us over the years.
